Our work has been featured in The New Yorker, Landscape Architecture, Restoration Ecology, Arizona Highways, and many other publications. The Heard Museum, one of the most notable Native American museums in the United States, has a feature exhibit on one of Fred Phillips’ earliest and most impactful projects: The Ahakhav Tribal Preserve.
To date, the firm has completed conservation and restoration planning on more than 17 million acres around the Colorado River corridor. In addition to master planning, our park and master plans have included more than 200 miles of trail systems. Our experienced landscape planners, designers, and biologists use the most up-to-date information and techniques in designing natural landscapes, nature parks, and greenways.
Master Planning
We develop park, trail, and development plans as well as conservation and restoration strategies for communities. Our collaborative planning process includes gathering project information and holding stakeholder workshops to identify ideas, opportunities, and constraints. We develop a plan that suits a community’s needs and advise on pilot project funding to help get the plan off the ground and moving. The firm has written and been awarded more than $15 million dollars in grants from federal, state, and non-profit agencies and private funders.
Residential and Commercial Landscape Design
Combined team experience has paved the way to many successful designs for our clients. Our designs focus on the use of native plants, medicinal and edible plants, and wise use of water and building materials. Our designs frequently incoporate play structures, rainwater collection systems, native plant nurseries. Depending on client and site needs, our park and landscape designs include site feasibility studies, grading plans, conceptual design, detailed design, planting plans, and infrastructure and irrigation layout.
Trails and Recreation Facilities
For trails and recreational facilities, the firm’s work has involved planning, public facilitation, trail mapping, facility design, interpretive signage, habitat improvement, planting design, trail monitoring, and maintenance.
