The Firm

Fred Phillips Consulting, LLC is an environmental consulting and design firm based in Flagstaff, Arizona. We have been in practice for over 25 years. Our projects include multidisciplinary large-scale wetland/aquatic/riparian restoration, trail and park master planning, environmental permitting and compliance, wetland mitigation planning and design, landscape design and construction, and fund raising/eco-business development. We strive to accomplish sensible planning, restoration, and development of the natural landscapes of the United States and beyond.

Our staff and project teams include some of the most respected landscape architects, wildlife biologists, civil engineers, and contractors in the ecological restoration industry. Our decades of experience, sound science, innovation, and the wisdom of local communities guide our design process. The trails, parks, and facilities we create result from listening to the needs of the people in those communities. We make the grade on projects from planning, design, and permitting to overseeing construction and implementing long-term land management of these areas. Our projects provide immense ecological uplift of these forgotten lands and provide critical habitat for hundreds of wildlife species. Economic, recreational, and educational opportunities that result from our projects create a legacy that will benefit generations. Our main mission is the conservation, protection, and restoration of our rivers and improving the quality of life in the communities they flow through.

Most often, one of the greatest challenges in making ecological restoration a reality is getting all the stakeholders to reach consensus on a plan. To say the least, it’s no easy task. For over a quarter century, Fred Phillips Consulting has worked with Native American tribes, individual landowners, and federal and state agencies and across international borders to restore these endangered rivers. We have transformed thousands of acres of severely ecologically damaged rivers into resilient native wetlands, forests, and grasslands.

Our collaboration with our clients has helped:

  • Secure over 15 million dollars in grants for restoration, conservation, education, and recreation
  • Plan millions of acres for restoration, recreation, and conservation actions
  • Restore over 4,000 acres of severely degraded rivers, forests, and desert back to resilient native forests, grasslands, and wetlands
  • Create multiple trail systems, parks, and recreation facilities along endangered rivers
  • Connect communities with their rivers to create immense economic, educational, and recreational benefits
